The Accuris SmartReader™ Multimode is an advanced microplate reader designed to meet the growing needs of advanced life science labs. Equipped with a full suite of high-performance optical systems, the SmartReader Multimode is your all-in-one solution for absorbance, fluorescence, and luminescence applications.

The SmartReader Multimode quickly processes assays in standard 96-well plates and also accepts 6, 12, 24, 48, and 384-well plates. Programming and operation are managed from the instrument's large color touch screen—no external computer or software required. Optional PC software allows for easy control and data handling via a Windows™ PC. Its intuitive interface guides users through various assay setup and processing options.

Key features include a built-in plate shaker with linear, orbital, and double-orbital modes, and an incubator that supports top heating from ambient +4°C to 45°C. This top heating method prevents condensation when microplate lids are used. Upon startup, the SmartReader Multimode performs a self-diagnostic test, followed by automatic calibration to ensure consistent results across various assays.

UV-Visible Absorbance

Utilizing an advanced monochromator and a long-life, broad-spectrum xenon flash lamp, the SmartReader Multimode allows users to select wavelengths from 200 to 1000 nm in 1 nm steps. A full 96-well plate can be read in under 15 seconds. The kinetic assay feature provides multiple readings over a set period, displaying real-time curves for each well. The optional SmartDrop™ plate enables quick and convenient UV absorbance evaluation of up to 16 nucleic acid and protein samples.

Fluorescence

The SmartReader Multimode includes three filter modules covering the most common excitation and emission wavelengths for fluorescence assays. Additional filter modules are available, featuring barcoded modules for automatic wavelength recognition. These modules incorporate dichroic mirrors with narrow band-pass optical filters, ensuring high light transmission and increased detection sensitivity. The instrument's automatic dynamic range selection optimizes signal intensity capture.

Luminescence

The SmartReader Multimode supports both flash and glow luminescence assays. An advanced PMT (photo multiplier tube) enhances sensitivity, prevents over-saturation of strong signals, and provides an optimal detection range for all common luminescence applications. Up to two sample injectors (available separately) can be installed for use with 96- and 384-well plates.

Data Transfer & PC Software

Data from the SmartReader Multimode can be exported as .XLS or .CSV files via USB flash drive, FTP server, or the optional SmartReader™ PC Software.

The SmartReader PC Software allows for remote programming and operation via cable connection. Data from the instrument is automatically uploaded for further analysis. Two versions are available: a Research version for academic use and an FDA 21 CFR Part 11-compliant version for regulated environments.
